Connected Vehicle Field Infrastructure

AASHTO Connected Vehicle Working Group – June 26, 2013 at UMTRI Ann Arbor, MI

The American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials Connected Vehicle Working Group met at the University of Michigan Transportation Research Institute offices on June 26, 2013 to discuss a draft of the Framework for Infrastructure Design. Kyle Garrett from Synesis Partners led the discussion of the draft.
The draft generally assumes that the communications technology will be DSRC. None of the applications have been designed yet. Rather, the framework draft provides a Generic Design Concept. In general terms, it is a Box with antenna that plugs into a controller. The draft shows what the equipment is and where it goes, but should not be considered design plans. The Footprint Analysis could be the basis for a national launch layer.
